Hotel BGC Taguig City, July 19-20, 2012 – Reminds me of that classic lyrics from that good old song, “Every breathe you take, every move you take, every word you make... I’ll
be watching you.”
On
that uneventful day of July 2012, there was a collective convergence of
brilliant minds who, like some Don Quixotic-like struggle and quest, to have
the Philippines and other Asian countries set up a clear-cut policies and
agendas to have a better clean air policies that the people can enjoy living
with their lives.
Through
the efforts done by Clean Air Initiative – Asia (CAI-Asia), the direction was
set by such men and women, in helping each asian country such as the
Philippines alleviate from its current stately misery of the quality of air in
its environment. The organization has have some successful partnership, like
with the local efforts here in the country with The Firefly Brigade’s
Non-Motorized Transport (NMT) campaigns thru the use of bicycling, and the
local ordinance of Pasig City as they have launched recently their Sunday
Carless Day events in their Ortigas Financial District streets, and uplifting
of some walkability programs (often which are overlooked and under-estimated by
local government officials as a good way in increasing the quality of air).
The
challenges of these gallant men and women from the CAI-Asia is to seek more
partnership with the local and national governments in the different asian
countries to help alleviate and increase the quality of air, hence helping
increase the quality of lives in the region.
It should not only be their responsibility but also ours – from every
private citizens of the countries in Asia too.
After
all, every breathe you take... well, matters.
Life
is Good!
